|
I want to try to install a windows application on my (work) linux box, as getting it to run would finally free me from windows. The application is Peregrine Assetcenter, and it requires oracle client to be installed. I tried installing oracle client under wine from a cd, but it did'nt really work out. When I type
it does'nt give errors, but nothing happens. I've never used wine, but this is how I understood applications should be installed (ie this would start the installer)?
If I run an app under wine that requires the oracle client, does the client have to also be installed under wine? Or can I use a linux client? |

Is the setup just the setup.exe, or does the installer directory contain more files?
If the latter is the case, you might try wine --dos-cwd=<full path to directory whre the installer is> setup.exe.
try wine --help or sth. similar to see if i didn't misspell the switch.
cheers

I got it to go a bit further... I had originally copied all the files from the installation cd to a local folder. I tried now installing directly from the cd, and it did launch something...
However I get an error in the console where I run the command from:

err:wineconsole:WCUSER_SetFont wrong font

and after that it launces a "dos screen". Unfortunatly that's all that happens, does'nt go further.
