When I try
kdesu -t konqueror
I get the output shown below.
I can kdesu to konsole no problem.
I previously posted this to Network & Security but that was probably the wrong forum, sorry/

Log into Kde as root, try that command again - this time it should work. Then log out and log in as normal user, try that command again it should work. |

Thanks I tried that. I logged in as root and typed the same kdesu command. It worked as root, but when I log back in again as a user there is no difference. The problem is still as it was.

I've seen these kind of problems before, when temp files are not properly cleaned up. I would try to delete this file: /tmp/mcop, and any other tmp -dcop and tmp -mcop files. |

I tried completely clearing the /tmp directory outside of KDE then rebooting. Same result.
If it has anything to do with the problem, there are some other things I noticed,
1) I can "kdesu konsole" with no problem
2) If I su to root in a console I can't start any X app. I get
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
konsole: cannot connect to X server :0.0
3) The KDE apps are no longer in the search path, I have to type the full /usr/kde/3/bin/konsole.

Thanks. Tried that but /tmp was drwxrwxrwt to start with.
Also I owe a bigappology to the moderators. I let my frustration with this problem get me carried away and ended up cross-posting even more than my local postman manages to.

Looks like you probably want to file a bug on this. You're not the only one having this issue. (do check to ensure one hasn't been filed already)

I have the same problem. I don't know what to do. I too have kde 3.0.3 and it only works if I change the permission to root. If I do that other things fail. There has to be others out there that have this problem. |

I just deleted two files:
/tmp/mcop-root and /tmp/mcop-tanners
After deleting these files, kdesu konqueror worked again.
Try deleting any file like /tmp/mcop-* |
