the disk may be fine. also, audio/video cds and dvd do not need to be mounted with udev, just play them.
Also try it on a home dvd player. Tell me if they dont work on either. _________________ https://otw20.com/ OTW20 The new place for off the wall chat |

No, these are data DVD's I'm talking about; they fail to burn in k3b. I've burned a few, but it seems like a success happens randomly! I have 35 coasters and 3 good DVD's. The ratio is not good. Data verification fails, and the disc won't mount. |

I recently burned a DVD back-up and had the same trouble. When I ran growisofs directly from the command line it worked fine, but from K3B it bombed. I don't know the cause, but maybe this would be an acceptable work-around for you as it was for me. In case it's any help, here's an example of the command I used:
Quote: |
growisofs -Z /dev/dvd -R -x /lost+found -x /backup -x /dev -x /mnt -x /proc -x /sys -x /tmp -x /var/tmp -x /var/cache /
|
So I'm basically telling it to back-up the entire drive (by the final "/") except the excluded dirs. I've tried adding "-J" for Joliet but that bombs with filename errors, so I just stick to Rock Ridge. |

It would be interesting to know what burner you have and its firmware rev., what media brand and speed you use, which version of k3b and its dependencies, and perhaps something about your system..

there has been some major problems with k3b recently and it is all to do with their new version. Can you package.mask this version and go back to an old one and see if it works better? _________________ https://otw20.com/ OTW20 The new place for off the wall chat |
