Kind of a newbe on Sparc but i found a box at work which isn't used, thought i might go and install gentoo on it....
the thing is that i want to run X on it but i cant find a mouse for it.

What do you recon, should i bye a serial mouse or a serial/ps2 adapter... or.. struck me now, is there a way to run the applications on that box and use my XP workstation as a thin client?

Thanks

/Magnus

There are some Xservers for windows like in Cygwin if you want a free solution. VNC would be a solution too.

That's probably the easiest way to go for it. Sun mice are attached to the keyboard on U10 workstations, so you would nee to buy a mouse and a keyboard.

Thanks I guess i'll have a go on the Cygwin and see how it goes.

That just proves how much of a n00b i am when it comes to SPARCs.
Do i need a special SUN monitor aswell or would a normal one do the trick just so i can start up ssh on it?

Cheers

Depends on what the box is....

Ultra 5 and Ultra 10's had standard PC style 15pin sub D connectors for the builtin cards, same goes for Blade 100's IIRC.

For the rest you either need a Sun monitor OR a 13W3 adapter (cheap on ebay ;)) - a good multisync PC monitor will then work fine ;)
