can't install galeon2 (complains of gconf)

Actually, another issue first. trying "emerge -u /usr/portage/net-www/galeon-cvs/galeon-cvs-20020908.ebuild" tells me that all =net-www/mozilla-1.3_beta ebuilds have been masked. But I have it installed and removing the net-www/mozilla-1.3a option in /usr/portage/profiles/packages.mask doesn't help (that's the only mozilla one in there)

So if I do the emerge with nodeps it will continue, but I get this strange error:
... Requested 'gconf-2.0 >= 2.0.0' but version of gconf is 1.2.1

The only match of a "emerge -s gconf" is 1.2.1, which I do have installed. Does gentoo not have a gconf v2 ebuild yet? Or how can I get galeon2 installed?
