I have posted this error once before at https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=35122 (I posted it in the wrong forums...)

It seems that other people are having this same problem http://oss.sgi.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=197

MY PROBLEM: When I reboot normally ("shutdown -r now")
or just shutdown the machine for the night (god forbid) on reboot I get a 990 error in the /var/run/directory when the daemons are starting up because they cannot write to that directory. When I do a ls -la I get

Code:
dualxp#ls -la
total 0

(sorry if it looks bad I had to type it from another system)

There are no . or .. the whole directory is fubared.
This destruction is not only limited to my /var/run dirctory, I have had it take out one of my perl apache libs or something related (thats why I did a reinstall).

Even after I boot with the install cd and issue the xfs_repair command the problem comes back on subsquent reboots.

MY CONFIG:
Kernel: XFS-Sources-2.4.20-XFS_pre6
Compile: march athlon-mp -9

Hardware
MSI dual athlon MB with 2 athlonXP 2000+
Nvidia 4200 128mb
onboard Intel ethernet 100pro
256Mb Crucial

QUESTION: Has anybody else seen this error and what did they do to fix it other than the XFS_repair command and switch to ext2 (thats what I did for my mp3 drive, don't want to loose 10gigs of them).

HELP

Tim

EDIT: Fixed a url prob
