A few days ago I used a samba mount to listen to some mp3s. When i woke up the next morning, doing a directory listing on any samba share casuses ls to segfault on the client. Trying to command complete with the shell causes the shell to segfault (currently bash). Both the client and server and gentoo boxes with samba 2.2.7a. `cd` is able to change directories fine if you already know the directory structure. I've tried `ls` in several directories with the same result.
In the time between ls working and segfaulting nothing was added or modified to either machine that I am away of (since I was sleeping). Both machines have been rebooted and still no luck. My other gentoo boxes and my windows box have no trouble getting a directory listing on the server.
any suggestions? |

The problem turned out to be the real time clock kernel option. I had been running with RTC for about a week with out any problems. I have no idea what I changed to suddenly start causing these problems with tho.
This problem also prevented me from doing `ls` `cp` `mv` etc. on any file system other the what was mounted on / so rebuilding the new kernel and putting it on my boot partition was a bit of a problem. |
