I'm trying to install gentoo on my laptop but I can't get my Accton EN2220 cardbus work. Does Gentoo support this card? If I'm right this card uses tulip module, so I loaded kernel module:
I made network settings manually since I'm behind nat:
and started pcmcia:
Code: | /etc/init.d/pcmcia start |
ifconfig:
Code: | eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:00:E8:95:13:A3
inet addr:192.168.0.4 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:1 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:1
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)
Interrupt:11 Base address:0x4000
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
RX packets:1 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:1 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:88 (88.0 b) TX bytes:88 (88.0 b) |
I'm using coyote firewall and made accept-rules for this computer. They should be ok since I have configured 3 other computers already and they are working fine. Could someone help me to detect the problem. Thanks

Hi,
Why don't you start by stoping the firewall and only allow forwarding. That way, you at least know that the firewall isn't the problem. Then you can start a traceroute to www.linux.org or ping your box, then the firewall, then www.linux.org. That way you should get an idea of there things are going wrong. It might also be a DNS problem so try pinging IPs.
I'd need error logs or a bit more info to help you some more.

I think something is miss-configured becouse this looks a littel funny
look like lo is alias off your eth0 , also note the ip_address should be 127.0.0.1

You're right that looks quite funny. Sorry about that ...I can't paste anything from my laptop so I had to type it manually. It was just typo. I'll try to disable my firewall and give direct access to internet. I'll post results laiter. |
