Hello,

I have an ipv6 tunnel through he (tunnelbroker) and I'm using zoneedit to handle my dns.

I have my box setup so that I can use an ip from my block to irc (NEAT!) but what I really want is rdns on the ip I'm using.

I'm not by any means familiar with bind, and I've been looking at all sorts of guides and whatnot and I've gotten NOPLACE.

Basically, I have bind emerged and ready to go, but I'm not sure what I need to do.

I tried using the config generator located here:

http://tools.fpsn.net/ipv6-inaddr/

I'm a little confused on what I should be putting for my "Primary Domain Server" and also the secondary.

Mind you, on my zoneedit I have a record: ph34r.my.ipv6.mawst.net AAAA 2001:470:1f00:998::1

That's my dns handler thingie.

Now on my he account, it reads like this:

If you would like to have us point reverse DNS to your nameservers, please include them below. They are not required and leaving them blank will still allocate you a /64. You will be able to setup reverse at a later time.

If you need an address range larger than /64, please contact us at ipv6@he.net
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Assigned Prefix: 2001:470:1F00:998::/64

(Leave fields blank to remove revDNS.)
Name Server 1: ns.mawst.net
Name Server 2:
Name Server 3:

Now, ns.mawst.net IS set correctly, and refers to my linux machine with bind on it.

What I need to do now is enable rdns on 2001:470:1f00:998::1 (ph34r.my.ipv6.mawst.net)

The strange thing here is, I can ping BOTH the ipv6 AND the hostname, but when I connect to irc (using irssi) my /whois shows my ipv6, and not the hostname. Also, the irc server complains that it cannot resolve my hostname.

Please help!

Thanks!

I've got it working. The generator I was using has some bugs in it I found out and someone on IRC helped me with my config. Still didn't work, but I found out later there was a line wrapping that shouldn't have been. DOH!

:D
