When I try to start xmms, it display me (in term)

<Init> : Available CPU flags: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 mmx fxsr syscall mmxext 3dnowext 3dnow
<Init> : 1299.76 MHz AMD Athlon(tm) processor processor detected

And so I can't listen my favorite mp3.

:!: it's a probably not a problem with avifile so don't read this.

try rebuilding it without the "use avi" in /etc/make.conf use USE="... -avi ....", can remember how to do it using the command line (think "USE=-avi emerge xmms" or export USE="-avi"; emerge xmms), rebuild xmms (optional change make.conf back) well if the problems is with the libavifile it will be resolved and you can listen to your mp3s; shouldn't use xmms to play avifiles special movieplayers can do that job,

Cya, lX

btw if you build with emerge -b you should remove the package xmms-.. from /usr/portage/packages/All/xmms* or touch the particular ebuild file.
