Das kann man übrigens mit dem USE-Flag "offensive" steuern.
Das gibts auch für andere Pakete wie z.B. fortune-mod und xscreensaver (was es da allerdings bewirkt weiss ich bis heute nicht...)

Bei xscreensaver zeichnet GLsnake dann unter anderem Geschlechtsteile - siehe Serious Question about Censorship and Gentoo.
