Is it possible to have my dvdrom drives (one is actualy a dvdrw but that doesn't really matter I guess) and also my usbkey to automatically mount when I insert a cd/dvd in the drive or plug the usb key? How can I do that? I guess it's not the noauto option in the fstab cause I beleive that is about mounting at boot right?

However, here's my /etc/fstab file in case you need it:

Code:
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
# $Header: /var/cvsroot/gentoo-src/rc-scripts/etc/fstab,v 1.18.4.1 2005/01/31 23:05:14 vapier Exp $
#
# noatime turns off atimes for increased performance (atimes normally aren't
# needed; notail increases performance of ReiserFS (at the expense of storage
# efficiency).  It's safe to drop the noatime options if you want and to
# switch between notail / tail freely.
#
# See the manpage fstab(5) for more information.

# <fs>         <mountpoint>   <type>      <opts>      <dump/pass>

# NOTE: If your BOOT partition is ReiserFS, add the notail option to opts.

I used udev dbus and ivman to get most of it working.

But I too would like something like they have in Mandrake where you plug in a USB device and it automatically mounts it and places an icon on the desktop.

I know it is possible. I just dont have the education to pull it off.

<edit>
I found the key to this HERE. Look about 1/2 way down the first post and you can see how to do it.
