Hi all

Well, this is not really any kind of problem. Is more a help to do something if possible.
Is there anyway, when I'm going into single-user mode or booting into single user mode for the system asking for the root password.
Just like Solaris?

Thanks all

Usually just pass single to kernel is enough to single mode when booting the system.
very weird. under kernel version 2.6.12, this does not work. I am not sure why.

"single" isn't consistent in gentoo. I've seen it do at least four different things.

init=/bin/bash works much better

yah when I pass the single or -s or 1 in the command line it goes direct to single user.

What I wanted is you go for single user but it asks for the maintenance/root password .... it's like a safeguard from ordinary users ....
