Hi
Where would I tell my gentoo box to use a fixed ip adresse, gateway and DNS servers? Right now I am using DHCP but I want to stop doing that.

It is pretty well documented in the install guide. You can use that to show you where to set up the IPs. |

Thanks but where do I put :
ifconfig $IFACE $IPNUM broadcast $BCAST netmask $NMASK
/sbin/route add -net default gw $GTWAY netmask 0.0.0.0 metric 1
so that my system keeps the configuration when I reboot it? |

Thats for manual configuration on the command line.
Take a look at part 23.2...you need to edit your /etc/conf.d/net script and enter your details there.
DNS entries go in /etc/resolv.conf |
