|

My #$#$% ISP is giving me problems, and there are times when my server is offline.
I am still in the process of building my system.
Here's my problem: I need access to the gentoo documentation. I've noticed that there are some excellent man pages for gentoo commands, but I was wondering if the documentation on the gentoo website is also part of some ebuilds (if not, that would be nice!) and could be emerged along with the rest of things.
Perhaps this is already being done? Anybody know?

I don't think it has been done yet. There is a good discussion on this here. At least I think that is what you're asking. |

well, that thread was interesting though the idea would be difficult to pull off.
I mean something simpler: that the web documentation should be mirrored on the local system somehow.
Of course, the contingency it's designed to address (being offline) might be moot in this world of always-on networks. The Gentoo documentation is pretty good and current. It would be really nice if a simple emerge command could mirror the web documentation on a local system.

Its certainly not a moot point. If at first you dont succeed try try again. Still won't get it all with one command but it's a start. |
