|
|
Sparc Ultra 10. Type 5c keyboard oldschool mousesystems 3button ball mouse
Mouse works in X, Keyboard does not.
Intermediate linux skill level Complete newb on the Sparc. I have tried using kbd instead of keyboard which resulted in a complete failure. I am running 2.4
I emerged KDE and was setting up X so I can use KDE but have run into this snag. The keyboard functions just fine @ CLI.
Does the keyboard need to be loaded as a kernel module?
xorg.0.log :
(II) LoadModule: "Keyboard"
(WW) Warning, couldn't open module Keyboard
(II) UnloadModule: "Keyboard"
(EE) Failed to load module "Keyboard" (module does not exist, 0)
xorg.conf:
# **********************************************************************
# Core keyboard's InputDevice section
# **********************************************************************
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Keyboard0"
Driver "Keyboard"
# For most OSs the protocol can be omitted (it defaults to "Standard").
# When using XQUEUE (only for SVR3 and SVR4, but not Solaris),
# uncomment the following line.
Option "Protocol" "Standard"
Option "AutoRepeat" "500 30"
# Specify which keyboard LEDs can be user-controlled (eg, with xset(1))
# Option "Xleds" "1 2 3"
# Option "LeftAlt" "Meta"
# Option "RightAlt" "ModeShift"
# To customise the XKB settings to suit your keyboard, modify the
# lines below (which are the defaults). For example, for a non-U.S.
# keyboard, you will probably want to use:
# Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
# If you have a US Microsoft Natural keyboard, you can use:
# Option "XkbModel" "microsoft"
#
# Then to change the language, change the Layout setting.
# For example, a german layout can be obtained with:
# Option "XkbLayout" "de"
# or:
# Option "XkbLayout" "de"
# Option "XkbVariant" "nodeadkeys"
#
# If you'd like to switch the positions of your capslock and
# control keys, use:
# Option "XkbOptions" "ctrl:swapcaps"
# These are the default XKB settings for Xorg
# Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
# Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
# Option "XkbLayout" "us"
# Option "XkbVariant" ""
# Option "XkbOptions" ""
# Option "XkbDisable"
Option "XkbRules" "sun"
Option "XkbModel" "type5"
Option "XkbLayout" "en_US"
Option "XkbKeycodes" "sun(type 5)"
Option "XkbTypes" "types/complete"
Option "XkbCompat" "compat/complete"
Option "XkbGeometry" "sun(type5unix)"

So I tried it with the lowercase keyboard it doesn't work if I type X -config /root/xorg.conf (my working conf that I was fillding with)
BUT if I do it with startx......it works....kinda. The keys are all jacked up.....I saw a post about some keyboard re-mapping that someone had to do so I am going to give that a shot.
thanks for the help so far |

Your welcome
I don't own a Sparc so I have no idea what the keymapping is like on them. Nonetheless, if I find anything I'll certainly post back here. _________________ ..::I reject your reality and substitute my own::.. |

So I solved the problem. I suspect it was with the
Code: | Option "Protocol" "Standard" |
So my current conf has this
Code: |
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Keyboard0"
Driver "keyboard"
Option "XkbRules" "sun"
Option "XkbModel" "type5"
Option "XkbLayout" "us"
EndSection
|
This seemed to work just fine.
Now onto sound! thanks. |
