I need /dev/video to use my webcam with apps like gqview or xawtv (apparently, cause they complain about "/dev/video not found" all the time when I try to run them. And the thing is that I have no /dev/video. What should I emerge??
Cheers,

You'll need to compile video4linux support into your kernel (or as modules), as well as the drivers for your webcam - they should be under Multimedia Devices. If the drivers for your webcam aren't listed there, you may have to google around for them. You also may need to manualy load the drivers to get /dev/video.
Also, I think you need to add i2c support, but that may only be for tv cards.
Hope this helps some. |
