Hi,
I've reinstalled Gentoo on my notebook and now the trouble has just begun.
My kernel 2.6.12-gentoo-r7 is built by genkernel with the option "--gensplash=gentoo".
It's config is a slightly modified default config of genkernel.
This is the error I get:
Code: | Call Trace:

I recompiled the kernel 20 times with different configs (with and without framebuffer etc) but nothing helped. The search of this forum couldn't help me to get a solution.
Grub command:
Code: |
title=Gentoo Linux
root (hd0,0)
kernel (hd0,0)/kernel-genkernel-x86-2.6.12-gentoo-r7 root=/dev/ram0 init=/linuxrc real_root=/dev/hda5 udev vga=791 video=vesafb:ywrap,mtrr splash=verbose:theme=gentoo CONSOLE=/dev/tty1 quiet
initrd (hd0,0)/initramfs-genkernel-x86-2.6.12-gentoo-r7 |
My machine is a Pentium 4 2600MHz, 1GB of Ram, GeforceFX Go5200 on a SiS Board.
Do you can solve my kernel problem?
MorLipf
Edit: If I disable ACPI the kernel boots. But this is not a solution for me. I need ACPI to control the temperature and the fans of the CPU in my notebook. |

Is there nobody who can help me?
In the last 2 hours I tested several kernel configs and even the default genkernel config does not work!
In the past there wasn't a problem with older kernelversions. Other distributions like Ubuntu are working flawlessy. Are the kernels of these distributions different to a gentoo kernel?
I'm using the gentoo-sources. The ck-sources don't work too. |
