Emerge question

I am new to Gentoo.

I understand it uses commands such as emerge.

But is there a FAQ and/or a list that tells you how to get programs.

eg. A list that indicates every program you can emerge.

Also how do I emerge kde 3.1 and not any older versions

The tool is called Portage (but the command is emerge)

Let me be more specific.

1. Where is the document that will tell me how to uninstall a GRP package?

2. Or the document that will help figure out why, although I install the Gnome GRP packages from the 3rd stage livecd, I am not able to run commands such as gedit, gdm, exec gnome-session (within a .xinitrc), etc?

Oh by the way I already new that page existed.
