|
|
i emerged quota 3.06-r1, edited fstab:
Code: | /dev/hda3 / reiserfs notail,noatime,nodev,usrquota 0 0
|
created the aquota.user file on / with quotacheck -m /dev/hda3, the filesize is > 0
i edited the init-quota script (removed grpquotas) added it to runlevel default - following the gentoo security guide - quota should work on reboot... however i get the following error:
Code: | *checking quotas. This may take some time...
Cannot get exact used space...results might be innacurate.
quotacheck: cannot remount filesystem mounted on / read-only so counted values might not be right. please stop all programms writing to filesystem or use -m glag to force [ok]
*turning on quota...
quotaon: cannot find quota file on / [/dev/hda3] to turn quotas on/off [!!] |
quota support is in the kernel ... i was not able to resolve this - do i need some kernel patch to use quota on reiserfs or is something else wrong - i'm stuck... _________________ To an engineer the glass is neither half full, nor half empty - it is just twice as big as it needs to be. |

for reiserfs and quota you need some quite experimental patches for the kernel. look on reiserfs.org for some patches against 2.4.19. Best option would be to wait for reiser4 ... |

hmm - i also tried with my /boot partition meanwhile - its ext3 - nogo... seems to be more than a kernel issue... _________________ To an engineer the glass is neither half full, nor half empty - it is just twice as big as it needs to be. |

if you have /proc/fs/quota, use quota-3.03. If you cannot find
quota-3.03.ebuild make one by changing quota-3.06
if you have /proc/sys/fs/quota - use quota-3.06. If it doesnt work .... have you compiled quota support in your kernel? |
