I don't play it anymore, but I had it running without any problems. |

Yup it runs correctly, as of cedega 4.3.1. wine 20050725 also works with no problems. |

It has been running well for over a year now.
Did you follow the instructions that appear after installing cedega?
Does it crash randomly or at a specific moment?
Try to start Warcraft from the commandline and watch the output. |

i had some random crashes with gentoo amd64 (playing on battle.net/custom maps). then i installed gentoo x86, same problems, then installed ubuntu (64bit again) and then debian (32bit), all with about the same results. now i'm back on gentoo amd64 (omg, what an odyssee) and found that warcraft now crashes all of the time. wether shortly after the loading screen of a map appears or a few seconds within an actual game. i also found, that i could start warcraft only with:
Code: | [AppDefaults\\War3.exe\\Version]
"Windows" = "winxp" |
or
Code: | [AppDefaults\\War3.exe\\Version]
"Windows" = "win2k" |
else it would crash at start.
i've also always used a nocd patch (i know... no cracked game discussions, but i really own the game and just have a problem with the copy protection and the kernel), which i tried to blame, but i had it removed totally and once made the copy protection actually work with a kernel and still got the same crashes (even though not as often as now). i also had a lot of disconnects (about 1 of 2 games and totally random from loading screen to 1 1/2h of game play).
if i could make my kernel work with the copy protection again, i could try if i still get as many crashes and thus rule out the nocd-patch (which drastically reduces loading- and fetching-the-damn-cd-time). maybe someone could give me some advice here. some info on my system:

i'm currently recompiling world because i accidently used i686 as CHOST parameter and lot's of stuff wouldn't compile and i'm not sure what other impact it had on my system and will check if that helped. _________________ If you fall off a cliff, you might as well try to fly. another strange thing is that i always get this:
from the kernel, whenever i play warcraft. i don't quite understand why this message appears, or what i can do to make it right, but it seems to be connected to the disconnects/crashes i get. _________________ If you fall off a cliff, you might as well try to fly.
