kxdocker, can't run as non-root

hi, i just intalled kxdocker. orignally i was able to execute it as a non-root user. but after playing around with it (the configuration) i can no longer bring up the run command box and execute "kxdocker." it just shows the little bouncing icon that says its loading, but just hangs and nothing happens, and eventually the bouncing loading icon goes awayr. however, if i execute the command as the root user it works fine. does anyone know what might be happening here? thanks.

try running it from a shell to see what if any error messages you get..

I can run kxdocker as root fine. As a normal user it runs fine from console but never appears. i.e. I get no errors. Yet I still cannot see the dock anywhere...
Any help would be appreciated...nothing else found in forums yet or on projects website.

Your suggestion worked perfect for the minimal install. I am going to add the "net" USE flag and see if that works next...

Update:

Adding the 'net' USE flag pulled about 5 more packages and they worked no problem. So far only one kxdocker plugin has not worked for me causing crashes was kxdocker-gthrottle. Uninstalling this made everything work again.

when I try to emerge I get Cannot find $epatch_Source Value is /usr/local.portage/kde-misc/kxdocker/files/kxdocker-1.0.0a-parallelmake.patch

Any Idea's?

I thought I did that before, but I think I just did an ebuild kdocker digest (to lazy to put the whole filename)
and that worked, thank you

This might not be the right place to ask but is there an easy way to add a new plugin other than editing the xml file? THe mount plugin is running by default but I would like to add the clock, I can right click and get configure to come up but it doesnt let me add a new plugin always seems to do the kmenu item when I click on the blank space, and it always uses the apple penguin icon instead of the K one even though it says to use it.... odd

Figured it out, use the system try icon... DUH

but found a glitch still

<pluginspath Path="/usr/kde/3.5/lib/kxdocker/" />

is needed in the XML, GDate gets installed there by default instead of the other places where the other plugins are located. BUt I still cant get it to run...
