It would be nice to have a working P2P program for Linux. DCpp works well, if it works. So DCpp in portage would be dreamful!

write an ebuild (if possible) and post it on bugzilla.

I like phex for downloading p2p stuff. Already in portage

There are alot of p2p apps for linux, to see which are available in portage you could take a look in /usr/portage/net-p2p or use a portage search tool, like eix.

If you're after a direct connect client, I think you're out of luck.
Valknut is the only really usable direct connect client I've tried. But even though it's the most usable it really sucks imho.
Linuxdcpp is an attempt to emulate dc++ for windows, and it's quite nice, but is only barely usable (at least for me) and it's only available through cvs.
There are a few others, but I don't think any of them are any good.
MLdonkey is capable of connecting to dc hubs, though, but as far as I can remember from my windows days most hubs frown upon people using it.

Linuxdcpp may be buggy but the next to the latest version works pretty ok except the gui locking up. I rather use that than DCGUI as It's so unlogical, at least to me. Also, linuxdcpp doesn't "hard"crash anymore. In the "decent dc client for linux" thread you can find a cvs ebuild. BTW, I wouldn't call linuxdcpp emulating anything. It's the 0.674 base with gtk. It's not like you're running dc++ for windows in Vmware.

Stay with it, I bet it will be a lot more stable in the coming weeks.

It is clearly imitating the look and feel of the windows one, thusly emulating it.
And by emulate I mean emulate as in "strive to equal or match", not as in "run non-native app in an emulated environment".

It's not "emulated", it's a "ported" version. ;)

I don't think you really read what I wrote, but I'll give up, because this is a silly argument. All I will say is take a look in a dictionary.

Maybe "imitate" was a bad choice of word, but "emulate" is imho still an appropriate expression to describe what lindcpp does.
