arts loopback for 32 bit apps

I noticed the other day that arts has a network transparency, which from the limited documentation on it seems to follow X11auth. However I was wondering if anyone has been able to use this instead as a loopback for 32 bit apps, so that 32 bit apps in fact report to the 64 bit compiled artsd. This would stop the nuisance of having to stop watching/listening to something everytime someone tries to call me over skype and/or use a 32 bit mplayer.
