Hey! I was aming at doing a stage 3 install + using grp to get a working system (my laptop) up and running really quick.
So, found out about the PORTAGE_BINHOST option, in your make.conf.. Sweet i thought. But, there seems to be few/no mirrors that has a grp/ archive.
or?! |

You just need to download the corresponding package CD from a Gentoo mirror. If you download the 2005.0 live CD then you need to also download the 2005.0 package CD. A word of warning: DO NOT RUN emerge sync before you install packages from the package CD, use the portage tree that is on the live CD. If you do run emerge sync then none or very few of the packages will install from the package CD. But if you do that there is a workaround, just copy the live CD portage tree back into /usr/portage |
