|
|
I've just finished installing Gentoo, when running remote java apps through ssh with X11 tunneling, the application (swing) window shows up completely blank. The components seem to be there because clicking around in the blank window triggers other pop up windows or the title of the window to change appropriately. This is not application specific as I've tried several java apps (including externally developed applications, eg. netbeans). Non-java apps work fine.
The remote server is running X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.7 and the local server is running X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.8.2.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if I should supply any other specs.
Thanks. |

Forgot to mention that I have jdk-1.5.0-04 installed on the server, I also have the same version installed locally but that shouldn't matter. |

After lots of googling I found a hint to try adding -Y to the ssh argument list when connecting. This seems to fix the problem. I've aliased ssh to use "ssh -XY" and now my Java apps are showing up correct. I'm not familar with this argument, the man page simply says it "Enables trusted X11 forwarding."
BTW, the remote system is not running Gentoo, so I did not follow the tutorial when setting it up. |
