i just installed gentoo on a reiser4 partition on my amd64 box and while i am impressed with the filesystem speed i am having problems emerging certain things
I have a reiser 4 patched 2.6.11 gentoo-sources kernel with reiser4progs 1.0.4 installed
when i emerge kde it gives me a compile error when it comes to kdewebdev-3.4.1 and when i emerged gdm it gave me some sandbox errors... i'll post them but i need to try it again so i can find the exact errors
i've never had these problems until i tried reiser4 but i would really like to keep using it as it is truly smokin fast
any suggestions on how to fix this? _________________ MSI 865PE Neo2 FISR, p4 2.6c, nv 5600

We'll probably need the full error message, but odds are that you are simply using a broken filesystem and you must learn your lesson |

nah, I use reiser4 as root filesystem too... Never had any sandbox problems emerging, with the exeption of a PHP merge which hung.
Ik can emerge gdm just fine.
Can you at least post emerge info? And a little more of the error message please. _________________ If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit. |

playfool..... this is a second gentoo install on this system..... it is purely for fun, no lesson to be learned, and besides, i have really not heard of anyone having searous problems with reiser4.
My other gentoo install on this box is an XFS filesystem and while it is ok, i is a little slow
I have reiserfs on my other 3 comps ..... just wanted to try something new
I'm thinking if i have more portage problems, i may make a reiserfs or xfs /var partition... _________________ MSI 865PE Neo2 FISR, p4 2.6c, nv 5600
