|
|
Hi, I've a GeForce2 card running on a KT266 Mobo that's driving me nuts. It crashes a lot - I've tried all the usual stuff - removing framebuffers, different versions, NoRenderAccel, etc. It still crashes with AGP off. NoRenderAccel, SwCursor etc. make no difference (I can reproduce it by running the PSX emu epsxe and starting FF7).
Having looked all over the place, this appears to be a commonish problem ; (it's not limited to Gentoo either) especially with Geforce 2s.
Anyway , can anyone recommend a decent cheapish video game card with some decent (preferably O/S) drivers. Please |

Nvidia seem to be the best supported, so why not go for a Geforce3 Ti, or even a Geforce4 Ti ? |

It could be overheating, have you tried running it without the case on?
I'd suggest either a Geforce 4 mx 440 ddr (not sdr) or a Geforce 4 ti4200. A geforce 3 ti200 can also be a good deal if you can find one. |

If you don't need 3D stuff, I suggest you buy a Matrox G400 or newer.
Really good 2D graphics, good framebuffer support, etc.
I even got xdirectfb running on it |
