Hi,
Thanx for the nice nitro4 Kernel, but....
compiling the the kernel with ipw2100 as modules works very well, but compiling it fix in the kernel he won't find the firmware. Not on /lib/firmware, /etc/firmware or /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware!
Who has got the ipw2100 compiled not as module working?
Could the error be, that the firmware must be in the kernel image too?

You mean nitro3 i guess
No, its not supposed to be in the kernel...
Ask ToeiRei for more info on how it works there.
besides, i dont see any arguments for not selecting it as a module...
contrary, not bloating your bzImage is good i guess...
cheers

Ok, i downloaded the ebuild, went through the menuconfig, et voila. EVERYTHING WORKS *hooray*
(the problem with vmware was that i disabled the paralell port support in the kernel, i think)
atm i got vmware,captive-ntfs,nvidia-7667 working.
this is the best kernel i've ever had
thank you
Please contact this user to see how he got it working.
cheers

Actually I got it working. All I did was emerge the latest version. Thanks though. Again, great kernel! Anyone get swsusp2 working though? Mine won't compile with it selected in kernel. |

Can't download the patch. Seems like the server is down. Anyone else had issues downloading, or is there a mirror out there? |

If nitro4 is almost here, then I'll wait for it . Can't wait to get my hands on it. Right now I'm using the -ck3 with libata-dev1 (2.6.11-libata-dev1.patch) to get my SMART up on the SATA. Will nitro4 or does nitro3 already include this patch? |

Bahhh... a server downtime when I wanted to compile nitro4. Now I need to go to work and will probably compile nitro4 in the night. _________________ Gentoo: Gigabyte: nFORCE 2: nVIDIA GeForce 6600: AMD Athlon XP 3200+

Since the server seems to have a serious problem, another high speed mirror has been set up:
ebuild:
nitro-sources-2.6.12-r3.tar.gz
distfiles:
patch-2.6.12-nitro3.bz2
kstrdup-2-rml-2.6.12-rc3-1.patch.bz2
fix_kbuild_sws2-related.diff.bz2
Note: In most cases it should be enough to download the ebuild (in bold letters), the other required files will be downloaded automatically from my webspace while emerging the ebuild!

2.6.12-nitro4 has been released, so 2.6.12-nitro3 is deprecated!
Please visit the current 2.6.12-nitro4 thread!
Since there are some severe issues with Reiser4 + 2.6.12-nitro4 it's safe to keep with 2.6.12-nitro3 for now! _________________ .:: Lenz' Signature 1.7b ::.

Well, reiser4 users are not recommended to use nitro4, it has some kind of reiser4 breakage, im gonna look into it..... _________________ Retired gentoo user |
