Okay, here's the situation. I had apache, php, and ssl installed on gentoo before, but I recently reinstalled it. Well, I want it back on but, I'm having a little bit of a problem. The latest version of apache (2.0.44, atleast that's the one I'm installing) is required by PHP. But, mod_ssl wants to install apache 1.3.27-r2. I want 2.0.44 installed but, mod_ssl will install 1.3.27-r2 as well. Is there a way to stop mod_ssl from installing 1.3.27-r2? Or will I have to have 1.3.27-r2 for mod_ssl? Thanks for the help.

It looks like Apache2 comes with ssl support and it's enabled in the ebuild by default (i.e. no USE variable necessary) Mod_ssl is not necessary.
