Hi,
We have a little problem with the air condition in our server room.
Now I am looking for a daemon to monitor temperature (and probably fan speeds) that, if a first barrier is broken, sends emails to the admin and if the second barrier is broken does an emergency shutdown to prevent hardware damage. Possible replacement would be, for the daemon to raise an acpi event that I can trigger and shutdown the machine through acpid.
Anybody know of such a thing (its not that uncommon, isnt it) before I start inventing the wheel for the 4500th time.
Thanks in advance for any hint,

In the search field you can enter such things as
1. temperature
2. i2c
and so on. |

I just read the first 50 reults of "temperature alarm" and found exactly nothing of interest.
To specify any further:
- no X applications as X is not even installed
- no user has to be logged in (as no user ever will be logged in). Any information posted to the machine is just some lost cpu cycles.
The program just has to be a daemon started at boot time, reading temperature values from /sys/ every x minutes, comparing with given maxima and starting given events when breaking one maximum.
My question was not for anyone to guide me to a solution, but if anyone ever setup something like this or heard of a program that does this. I can write this one myself, but would like to prevent investing time for something, that has already been solved.
If anyone knows of such a program, I will be very thankful.

Been there. Computers really are not happy when the room temperature goes above 120F but some of them actually worked.
I could use the same as well. Please write back if you find a workable solution. _________________ John
