|
|
hi,
my laptop needs a cvs xorg for the i915 graphics driver. so ive used HOWTO_Create_an_Updated_Ebuild to build a shiny new xorg.
ive used the latest xorg-cvs in portage ebuild, removed the patch section and updated site.def in the xorg-x11-files... file to only build the vesa and i810 driver. (there was a error in my first attemp to build xorg-cvs with all drivers, something with mga_bios.h failed)
with the i810 driver thats needed for i915 at the moment the display gets dark a very short time and jumps right back to console
the vesa driver darkens the display, the x server can be killed.
im not sure whats wrong, heres the log:
http://home.pages.at/metalfan/Xorg.0.log
and the config:

It seems that the mode "1400x1050" isn't working,
you should use 915resolution to get this working, you can find a ebuild on buzilla
Mine is working perfectly this these versions:
-x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.99.3
-x11-base/x11-drm-20050502 _________________ Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. |

im using org cvs from 20050707 for now, its running for some hours stable.
with help from 915resolution i can look at 1400x1050
as the time of writing 915resolution is in the portage tree but didnt worked for my samsung x20, i had to use the src from http://www.geocities.com/stomljen/ its 0.2 at the moment, dont know why the ebuild is version 0.4.

It seems that you missed the right link for the new version of 915resolution:
http://www.geocities.com/stomljen/915resolution-0.4.tar.gz
And the ebuild on bugzilla works correctly (maybe you're the guy that also post on bugzilla for an error with the ebuild ??)
There's a tarball of the overlay here
unpack it into /usr/local/portage and everything will be ok. _________________ Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. |

Hi,
The version 0.4 of 855resolution, currently into the portage tree, supports
the 915 chipset too.

@UB|K
ive used emerge -s resolution to find the prog and emerged it then.
there should be a notice that you have to set up an overlay in /usr/local/portage for this ebuild, otherwise its a call for a bug entry...
am i wrong?
