7174 works flawlessly. Getting 7664 to load has been a problem; I can't even start an X session. Here's the relevant bits from my /var/log/Xorg.0.log:

Hi.

From your post it seems that xorg complains alot about the video modes and warns you that it doesn't have the config for the second monitor. Furthermore, xorg detects a Sony monitor which seems to have a very low resolution:

I think that may be causing the problems. Can't you add the config for the second monitor? It does support 1600x1200, right?

I have two of the same monitor, a pair of Sony SDM-204/B 20" LCDs. That xorg.conf worked with the 7174 version of nvidia's driver. I'm just trying to figure out what I need to change to get it working with the 7664 driver. I too noticed the warnings about the resolutions and refresh rates. Should I change the vertical refresh from 60 to something else? Do I have to specify a resolution for Xorg to use with each monitor now? I'm pretty clueless if it isn't obvious already.

Okay, so it was a bug in the 7664 driver related to LCD monitors running at 1600x1200. That's me! The fix is to upgrade to 7667 drivers meaning downloading from nvidia's web site and creating an ebuild in a portage overlay.
