Cyrus won't let me in

hey forum,

I just installed cyrus and well. It quite works.
I installed it and sasl. I created the cyrus user. And I could log in via cyradm as cyrus.
Then I created my user ("thorben") on UNIX. Then I logged onto cyadm again, created the mailbox user.thorben.
Then I switched over to Thunderbird, set the username to thorben, the server to 10.0.0.77. It asks for a password, so I enter it, it shows the MOTD and says the auth has failed.
Any clue why? As far as I found out, cyrus isnt talking very much, /var/log/messages only brings

, so no real help.
