I just recently updated to Gnome 2.2, and the latest version of X. Shortly after I did, I discovered that X was frequently using all my processor for what I assume is antialiasing fonts. It happens most noticable when running emerge rsync in a terminal window. If I check the process list, X is using 90% of my processor, and my machine slows to a crawl. Is there any way to improve the performance of X?
If you need configuration info, I'l lbe happy to provide it. Just ask. _________________ Gentoo:

Found a duplicate thread, and solved the problem by turning off the transparent background in my Gnome Terminal.
