Several attempts to compile in support for the Creator3D card on my Ultra 10 have failed miserably. Every time, in drivers/built-in.o (in function 'ffb_set_context_ioctls'), there is an undefined reference to 'ffb_ioctls.' Anyone have an idea what happened here or, failing that, the last kernel that worked with this? I've tried several combinations of things (with DRM, without DRM, with fb support, without) and nothing seems to work.
Hmmph. |

Er... apparently I *didn't* try it without DRM enabled, because that seemed to do the trick.
Still annoying. |

Actually, the DRI driver is now deprecated for the most part and hasn't worked since around 2.6.6 out of the kernel. Xorg is planning to replace the acceleration that used to be had from DRI with the XAA framework. I believe the XAA functionality is in the latest stable and testing versions of xorg-x11 in the portage tree (though Ferris can correct me if I'm wrong). |

I've been away too long, apparently. |

XAA support is in the testing versions xorg-x11-6.8.99.x unconditionally. With the stable version 6.8.2-r1, and with the "official" testing version 6.8.2-r2, you must install it yourself by applying the corresponding patch from Bug 79467, found here: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79467 This is strongly recommended but not mandatory.
For 6.8.2-r2, spyderous prefers not to apply upstream patches which strictly speaking are enhancements rather than bug fixes; hence, the do-it-yourself nature of xaa support. If you do not wish to bother with this but do want xaa support, give xorg-x11-6.8.99.5 a try (this seems to be the best of the 6.8.99.xx series of previews of the next xorg release).
