|
|
I'm having trouble getting the progress bar to work with the bootsplash. The bar doesn't even move. Here is my grub.conf:
Code: | title Gentoo-2.6.11-r11 with splash
root (hd0,0)
kernel /bzImage-splash root=/dev/hda3 video=vesafb:ywrap,pmipal,mtrr,1280x1024-32@60 splash=silent,theme:emergence silent CONSOLE=/dev/tty1
initrd /boot/fbsplash-emergence-1280x1024 |
I just copied that from something and the bootsplash worked. I haven't a clue what half of that stuff does. _________________ System Specs:

I belive the progress bar is run by the splash rc script associated with the splashutils package. Look at the instuctions towards the bottom of this link http://www.gentoo.org/news/en/gwn/20050418-newsletter.xml.
You should still be able to do the same with the emergence theme. |

I'm having the same problem here. AFAIK the splash rc script just puts backgrounds on all the terminals (instead of just tty1). It also runs last, so there's no way it controlls the progress bar.
From what I can tell, baselayout was upgraded so that the splash rc functions (called by the rc script) are supposed to be in /sbin/splash-functions.sh now. My guess is that file just hasn't been made yet.
(should I file a bug #?) |

Wow this one suddenly came back. Yeah that's what mine does too. But because no one had any input on it for the longest time I just got used to a nice blue screen for bootup. _________________ System Specs:

I was missing /sbin/splash-functions.sh. As per spock's advice, I re-emerged splashutils (the same version), and /sbin/splash-functions re-appeared. Then everything worked.
