I've managed to get the bugger to work using the drivers from the portage. I have a perfect link, dhcp works like a charm.
The only problem is is that my link is bloody slow. Like about 1 kb/s at max which totally sucks. The link quality and signal strenght are at 100% though. So does anyone know how I could solve this ?
Using web encryption btw and its an Asus WL-107G pcmcia card.
Cheers in advance
[edit]
wep encryption even and it's running on a 2.6.11-r9 kernel _________________ - signature for rent, for all your sp@m -

Do have the same problems without WEP?
Have you tried the command
Quote: | iwconfig ra0 rate 54M |
?
Are you sure, you have an RaLink-Chipset on your Wireless LAN Card?

jip very sure since asus delivers linuxdrivers with the card and an lspci show a nice ralink rt2500 line
But the problem is already solved.
I've upgraded to the latest 2.6.11 kernel, reemerged the rt2500 drivers from the portage and apparently there was a miracle firmware upgrade for the router (an asus WL-530g. I don't know how this could possibly affect the speed so dramaticly, since a winxp laptop with the same wificard had pretty nice speeds.
Anyways now the wifi fun finally can start _________________ - signature for rent, for all your sp@m - |
