Every time I update with emerge -uND world, it decides it wants to rebuild eclipse. Everything updates fine, but it always likes to rebuild eclipse. Anyone else had a similar problem? Its not actually updating as it downloads nothing each time, It has been about 6 or so updates. Not a huge problem as the rebuild takes no more than 15 minutes, but still a waste.
Code:
emerge -uavND world

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating world dependencies ...done!
[ebuild     U ] dev-util/eclipse-sdk-3.0.2 [3.0.0-r3] +gnome +gtk +kde +motif +mozilla 0 kB

Total size of downloads: 0 kB

Do you want me to merge these packages? [Yes/No]

it doesn't have to d/l each time since the d/l file prolly still exists in /usr/portage/disttfiles.
it will only re-download if

1) you empty /usr/portage/distfiles
2) you upgrade thus a new d/l is needed

are you sure it proporly emerged?and no errors occured and thus it didnt actually get emerged?

wot happens if you just emerge that package?
equally try emptying /usr/portage/distfiles to force portage to d/l the source again

Hmn... No the problem isnt that it downloaded each time, deleting the distfile wouldn't help it much, just wondering if anyone else has had a recurring update like this.

Errr did you read what i wrote. I said it doesnt d/l each time!
you can tell by the "0kb" at teh end of the emerge ouput. That shows you wot it would have to d/l. Since the file already exists in /usr/portage/distfiles/ it does not have to d/l

IF you were to empty your /usr/portage/distfiles/ you would suddenly see that figure change to some number other than 0kb as portage will now have to d/l the datafile.

Have you tried what I have suggested?
ie.

emerge eclipse-sdk -vp (then without the "p")

then clear /usr/portage/distfiles/

IF that keeps poping up, then portage wants to upgrade your presently installed eclipse-sdk to the latest version and and the fact that it keeps poping up shows that the last time it did not emerge it, equally the fact that it shows 0kb for d/l size shows that it has tried since it has downloaded the sourcecode
