My first experience with Totem was with Gnome 2.10 with the gstreamer backend. Unfortunately the video quality was not acceptable where was mplayer was perfect. I eventually forgot about totem. I'm now in Gnome 2.12 and the same lines/blocks were there in totem regardless on the interlace setting.
Just a moment ago I was browsing the Gnome preferences and clicked on "Multimedia Systems Selector" and to noticed Video was set to "XWindows (no Xv)" option. Changing it to XWidows (X11, Xshm, Xv) instantly made totem process video much better. Now I have a videocard that handles XV just fine.
But if your Totem in gnome doesn't look right try this tip |
