i've just reinstalled my little movie + mp3 box. before i allways used mplayer with -vo vesa and it worked great with tvout. now i get this:
Code: |
...
Opening video decoder: [mpegpes] MPEG 1/2 Video passthrough
VDec: vo config request - 320 x 288 (preferred csp: Mpeg PES)
VDec: using Mpeg PES as output csp (no 0)
Movie-Aspect is 1.33:1 - prescaling to correct movie aspect.
VO: [vesa] 320x288 => 384x288 Mpeg PES [fs]
Killed

not sure if vesa uses fb or not but you might want to set the perms so regular users can use the framebuffer devices.
ls -al /dev/fb/*
you should be able to set the perms in /etc/devfsd.conf
you can do it while the system is up by
chmod 666 /dev/fb/*
as root |

If you have a well formed gfx card for mplayer (ati, mga) than try -vo vesa:vidix or -vo fbdev:vidix. Works very well for me (ATI r128)
My K6-III 450MHz shows 720x400 video with 25fps (PAL) with no framedrops and full screen on a 800x600 fbdev screen. For more about vidix, RTFM.
vesa and fbdev are only software decoder, they are very slow.
