Hi,

I've installed gentoo on my Sony Vaio PCG-FX505 Laptop. As mentioned in the Installation Instructions I've load the pcmcia-modules (pcmcia_core,i82365 and ds).

In stage 3 I've done a normal kernel build with pcmcia as modules. After rebooting I can no longer load the ds-module. All I get is
/lib/modules/2.4.19-gentoo-r10/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o: init_module: Operation not permitted
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.

the pcmcia_core is loaded.

dmesg gives additional information:
Linux Kernel Card Services 3.1.22
options: [pci] [cardbus] [pm]
ds: no socket drivers loaded!

When I try mdoprobe i82365 I get/lib/modules/2.4.19-gentoo-r10/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/i82365.o: init_module: No such device
and dmesg says
Intel PCIC probe: not found.

I know I've done something wrong, but I cannot see, what it is.

Can anybody shed some light?

MTIA,
Michael
