i know there is a way to re-direct the output from a command to a text file, but is there a way so that portage does this automaticly? (would be nice as a new feature in the future) so that you can go back to the logfile that portage created and fetch errors etc on a emerge in the past for instance? or log all successes to that logfile?..
i am not quite sure if this is the right forum or not but if it isn't my apologies... |

There isn't a way to do that that I'm aware of. However, several people have requested a similar feature in Portage. (some way to review the logs after an install/upgrade) and I believe a feature request bug has been filed as well. So, hopefully we'll see something in a future release of Portage.
