Hi, Im on a University network. I would like to be able to access other computers for filesharing. I have emerged and set up samba and gnome-vfs-extras and all that stuff, and it works fine. If I type smb: into nautilus, it comes up with a list of workgroups.
My problem is, I would like to be able to connect to a specific computer on the network based on IP address, not computer name. Is there any way to do this? It works in Windoze. I tried smb://123.456.789 (with a real IP, of course, but it didnt work).
Thanks for your help.

So, I should be able to use an IP address rather than a computer name to access it through samba? |
