A buddy and mine are frustrated that we can't find dedicated hosting for Gentoo(price like the rest). We're thinking of starting up a server and offering Virtual Dedicated Servers with Gentoo on them for people that want their own private server to play around with. Think there would be a market for this? |

Maybe soon.
The development, the discovery of Linux, the spread of the knowledge that an alternative to Microsoft exists.. Maybe people will want to play around without burning a LiveCD or buying a new computer.
Bit of a gamble though. _________________ Votre moment detente

Well there are tons of VPS out there, most people use it for a step from Shared hosting to Dedicated hosting because it's cheaper. ALL of the VPS I've seen offer redhat, fedora, debian, etc...but no gentoo and I think a lot of people would like to play around with Gentoo but can't find a place to do so. |

I don't know about a VPS, but it's quite simple to move a server from another flavor to Gentoo remotely. I've done it with all three of my dedicated servers and have only hit minor bumps with them. I've not played around with VPS's much to know how it woudl be different with Gentoo though. _________________ Member of the Gentoo Right Wing Conspiracy |

most places that offer dedicated servers don't have gentoo either, I had to have them put the LIVE CD in for me to do it. I guess it's too much work or something since it's all compiled and not RPMs or something. What's nice about VPS is they are private systems which act and feel like a dedicated server so someone can install some things and other completly different. |

There's also http://sevenl.net, a Canadian-based company offering Gentoo dedicated servers. |
