Openbox - xft - svenska bokstvr?

Jag har kört Openbox ett tag - antialiasade fonter i fönstertitelraden är fint...men vad hände med de svenska bokstäverna? De finns där, men det ser ut som fel encoding används. det borde va iso8859-1 eller -15...jag har inte letat runt på nätet alltför mycket, men är det någon som har en snabb lösning på problemet?

fonten som skall användas specifieras i ~/.openbox/styles/just-din-style på detta sätt:

*xft.font:      Verdana
*xft.size:      8
menu*xft.size:  10
