Hi all,
I hope this is the right place to post my questions and frustrations.
Don't get me wrong, I think gentoo is promissing and I'd like to get it on my box...
I have a digital p66 / 32 Mb / 2Gb / aha-2940s76 / Plexwriter (scsi)
Isn't that AIC7xxx one of the most basic drivers. And a Plextor is a ref in cdroms? So why do I get:
isolinux: Failed to locate CD-ROM device; boot failed
I am thinking of installing rh7.3 on a second drive (hdb) to leave the whole of hda free for gentoo. If I do that and succeed, then what do I need to do to get gentoo up and running.
I have a cdrom containing ISOLINUX and STAGE_1.TBZ
Where do I go from here? Can you point me to some documentation?
Thanks for the help.

Hi bsolar,
I had found that doc... printed and read
What I'm after is:
what happens between booting of the cd and getting the prompt.
When I boot from a seperate distro what do I do?
extract the files from gentoo-basic-x86-1.4_rc2.iso ?
there is nothing on that CS that looks like an installation procedure to me :\

I think you have to make the partitions, mount them, extract the tarball ecc... following the normal installation procedure from point 6. |
