I want to modify my kernel shared memory parameters as the defaults are kind of low for my needs. Not an expert on kernel hacking but I assume I have to reset shmall and shmmax in /etc/sysctl.conf to the size I want (128m instead of deault 32m).
Can anyone with any experience doing this warn me of any potential dangers? I take it sysctl.conf is parsed on startup. Is it possible to compile the values I want directly into the kernel instead?
I also need to check the number of semaphores, saw the sem values file but can't work out the map. BTW I'm running Gentoo 2.4.19 with a lot of available memory. Thanks for any suggestions or pointers on the subject. _________________ #! /usr/bin/perl
