God I hope this doesn't get moved to OTW :D but I think it qualifies as Gentoo Chat because I'm specifically looking for gentoo users who work in the radio industry.

I have been playing around with an opensource alternative to Scott Studios, Prophet, Enco.. (whatever overpriced software your studio uses) called Rivendell. It's not in portage, and I don't recall ever seeing an ebuild, but it is quite impressive and has a fairly active following. There are some gentoo users on the mailing list, I just thought that there were perhaps more who would be interested if they were aware of the software. This would probably be a bit overblown for a homeuser (icecasting), but if you have an actual broadcast studio, it might save you a lot of annual fees.

Of course it'd be nice to get some gentoo smarties on the project ... The more the merrier and of course, I might end up with an ebuild someday :D

Here's some pretty pics if you'd like to see it in action (The interface will look very familiar to anyone who has used scott studios before)

I also found a howto on the wiki that explains howto not set this up :D

Hi,

... i work in a radio station from 10 years :) and i am a gentoo user from 2 years :)
Hit me :). If i could help, ok, i'm in.
For my radio i designed/made numerous "cart players" - windows only.

First, i need to look in documentations/specifications from that site.

...Ah, what is your relation with "salem radio labs" ? :D

Daniel.

I'm just a member of their mailing list .. nothing more :D

I was pretty excited to find out about the project and thought I would just share it with those who may not have stumbled across the suite (that would be the best word for it, because there are lots of apps for it :) Anyway, feel free to PM me if you'd like to chat about radio in general (I'm trying to keep the thread out of OTW :D )

Well, they have (which you've probably seen by now) an app called cartwall.. i think :) that you could take a peek at. They also have a phone screen app that I'm going to take a look at next week (see what kind of asterisk integration possibilities it has)

Thanks for replying! :D

I guess we're the only two :)

Have you attempted to build any of the apps?
