|
|
Hi, I am uncertain how to prevent masked builds I install from being down graded to stable unmasked builds when the ~x86 setting is removed.
ie, I installed the newest masked driver from nvidia, now everytime I emerge world it wants to downgrade it to the unmasked stable version. How do I prevent this from happening
thanx guys |

One way is to inject the version that portage wants to downgrade to. _________________ Excellent.. |

Here's a good example, say you wanted to install the latest nvidia drivers even though they're masked.
You can umask the new driver, emerge it and then inject the old driver which means to tell portage it "thinks" it has it installed which will stop it from trying to install it.
example:
Code: | emerge inject media-video/nvidia-kernel-1.0.3123-r2 |
I do this all the time. |
